Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a growing public health concern, with an estimated 80% of cases remaining undiagnosed. This online symposium will highlight the intersection of sleep medicine and dentistry, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in the diagnosis and management of sleep-related disorders. Attendees will gain insights into the role dental professionals can play in improving patient outcomes in sleep medicine.

Learning objectives:

  • Examine the prevalence, presentation and pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea and recognize the implications for clinical assessment and diagnosis.
  • Identify evidence-based management strategies that address specific considerations in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, with a focus on optimizing patient outcomes.
  • Understand the relationship between sleep-related breathing disorders and temporomandibular joint disorders and identify the key clinical signs and symptoms associated with each.
  • Acquire practical strategies for the effective management of patients presenting with both sleep-related breathing disorders and temporomandibular joint disorders.
