Join the Black studies and Latin American and Latino studies departments for the fifth installment of the TalkBack Tuesdays virtual series on Blackness in Latin America. This interdisciplinary series features five scholars with expertise across Latin America — Brazil, Colombia, and Cuba. Each event provides an opportunity for participants to explore the historical and contemporary narratives about Black communities in Latin America.

The April 5 series on “The Burden of Culture: Racism and Cooperation in Brazil” will be led by Mojana Vargas/UFPB. Mojana Vargas/UFPB is a PhD candidate on African Studies at the University Institute Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), in Portugal, assistant professor at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB-Brazil), coordinates the project “Ethnic-Racial Dimensions in International Relations Teaching,” and her prime research topic is Africa in Brazilian International Relations which develops theoretically and methodologically the implementation of the topic “Education of the Ethnic- racial Relations” in the International Relations courses.
