Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center for a series of virtual conversations with environmental and climate justice leaders this semester. Their work reveals frameworks and strategies to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change and environmental pollution on communities of color and low-income earners. Student leaders will facilitate the post-presentation conversations.
Rachel Lawrence-Foster is a community organizer with @chicago_chrp. She will share the campaign calling for the release of Filipino-American youth organizer Chantal Anicoche, who was captured by the Philippines Armed Forces on Jan. 1, 2026, while joining Indigenous land defenders in Mindoro, Philippines, who are resisting corporate development and environmental destruction.
Lawrence-Foster will explore how international solidarity is essential to building a sustainable and equitable world.
