On Nov. 12, 2025, Congress enacted the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2026 (H.R. 5371), which includes a provision redefining hemp. The new definition, set to take effect on Nov. 12, 2026, would effectively recategorize many hemp-derived cannabinoid products as Schedule I controlled substances.
